Do not skip this step as this will be your only "fresh" installer, so to speak. Go home and image the workstation using Carbon Copy Cloner. Make this as easy as possible for them, so again, backup your computer so they can reformat the drive (if they wanted to) and install the 10.6.7 OS. When you get there tell them that you are not pleased with the Lion OS and you would like to run Snow Leopard. If you cannot find a disc, backup your harddrive, make a reservation at the genius bar. There may be a shot of installing Snow Leopard on your Mac if you can find a OEM10.6.7 disc for either a MacBook Pro or MacPro (whichever system you are running).Apple always knows what they are doing, so all retail Snow Leopard disks are 10.6.4, which will not work. Does anyone know a workaround for this or have experienced a similar issue?
Now unless I find a way around this I'm toast. After doing this it would not run well with our editing software so I had to regress back to Snow Leopard. So what do I do now? I already had issues with a Mac Pro that I had previously upgraded to Lion. It appears the new Mac Pro has something in the firmware that blocks you from installing or even running a previous OS. I isolated it by removing all the drives except that one. I successfully did this then I put the drive in the new Mac Pro and tried to get it to boot to that drive.
I decided to take a hard drive out of the new Mac Pro and try to install Snow Leopard on it from another Mac Pro that I know runs Snow Leopard. I tried to boot to the Snow Leopard disk and nada it says it is not compatible with my current OS. I have software (Final Cut Pro 7) that only works well in Snow Leopard. I just bought a brand new Mac Pro workstation for editing.
